Some teachers are born into their roles. Others arrive there after a long journey of searching, learning, and unlearning.
Doron’s story is not one of a straight path but of constant evolution—a journey through cultures, disciplines, and self-discovery.
Born in Jerusalem, he was raised with Jewish Sephardic and European heritage, shaping his deep appreciation for tradition and diversity. His early years were spent questioning, exploring, and longing for something beyond the expected.
His search led him across India, Nepal, Tibet, Japan, and Thailand, where he meditated in monasteries, trained in Zen and Vipassana, and lived in ashrams. He learned not just from books but from the silence of stillness and the wisdom of those who had walked the path before him.
Yet life was not always stillness.
He spent years in the fast-paced world of art and photography, running a successful studio in Manhattan, working with high-fashion brands and musicians, only to realize that success without inner peace felt hollow.
This contrast between deep practice and external ambition shaped Doron’s unique approach—one that bridges tradition with modern life, depth with action, and wisdom with practicality.

The manual is based on the experience and study of Doron with a wide variety of teachers and practices. The main ones however are ashtanga yoga as taught by Krishnamacharya and Pattabhi Jois, and the practices of Zen as taught by Daido Roshi and Shugen Sensei.
Doron took the best from each of his teachers, without following one dogma, or taking any school as the only truth. Rather he learned from life itself –through his struggle to find a practice that will be sustainable for the person living in today’s life –with all of its challenges both for body and mind.It is a yoga manual with strong emphasis on awareness practices as well as holistic healthincluding mind practices, Ayurveda, subtle energy and philosophy. There are sections that are especially for teaching, but most of this book can be used as a tool to simply dive deeper into a better yoga.

I just completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training here, and words can’t do the course and the center justice. It’s not just a beautiful location; it’s an intensive education on yoga and meditation that equips you to be the yoga teacher you aspire to be. Doron’s passion for yoga shines through when he teaches, and his energy is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
I can’t thank Doron and the staff at DYZC enough for their constant presence, attention to detail, enthusiasm for the place and the course, and for being so personable and treating everyone like friends. The food is incredible, and the surroundings, accommodations, and people are all amazing. I’m excited to go out there and teach, and I don’t think I would feel this prepared if I had done it anywhere else. You’re not just paying for the certificate, you’re paying for the education; everything else is just a bonus.
Thank you so much! I will definitely be returning next time I’m in Guatemala! Gracias.
